Our Intro to Sewing Class Series is a beginner series of 4 classes designed for individuals who are unfamiliar with their machine and want a starting point. In our month together, we will cover essential supplies, sewing machine parts and maintenance, stitches, fabric basics, reading patterns, and assembly and best practices for seam construction. We will be making a tote bag as our first project together to practice our new skills.
What You Need to Know:
Students will provide their own sewing machines, notions, and project fabric. Mountain Laurel Sewing Company will provide all other learning materials. Special accommodations are available!
Dates and Times:
Sunday classes will be held at Snake & Skein, 106 W Chestnut St, Lancaster, PA and will run from 1 - 3 pm
Monday classes will be held at the Maple Grove Community Building, 1420 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster, PA and will run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Book an individual sewing lesson to master a specific skill you’ve been excited to learn, from pattern alterations, zipper installations, adding pockets to your clothing, and whatever else you can dream up.
One-of-a-kind upcycled jackets made to order. Breathe life into old quilts and blankets by turning them into wearable art. Our quilted jackets are carefully constructed to preserve the quilt maker’s original design and feature a self-lined interior, pockets, and a loop for hanging.

How it works:
Once you place your deposit, we start our consultation process. We’ll set up a time to meet to talk details, timeline, and pricing and get your measurements. Jackets are priced by the hour and typically cost between $280 and $380 plus the price of shipping, if used, and any materials used (such as snaps or buttons). We’ll schedule fittings as necessary - usually one before final details are stitched. Fittings are always free!
After the final fitting, you can expect your jacket to be ready to wear in about a week. Ready to get started? Click “Add Deposit to Cart” below to begin!
NOTE: Quilts must be at least a twin size for small jackets, and at least a full size to make a medium jacket. Larger sizes will require at least a queen-sized quilt.
